Hello! So, if you’re anything like me, you probably let that whole “healthy eating” thing slide while on vacation. Well, I’m still on vacation, and I’m still eating like a 5-year-old.
I didn’t photograph and show you everything I ate while in Kentucky/Nashville because, quite frankly, it was pretty embarassing. Picture lots of eggs, cheese, cookies, and popcorn (those damn tins were everywhere!) and you’ll get a pretty good mental image. 🙂
So anyway, I honestly don’t have as much energy when I eat greasy food, and I can always tell a difference in my skin right away. I feel so much better eating whole, minimally processed foods. So I did marginally better today:
Oatmeal for breakfast with a frozen orange, which was very annoying, and some chocolate hazelnut coffee…mmm :). Oranges are currently the only fruit I have in the house so I’m setting one out tonight to avoid the long and hard battle to peel it that I endured this morning.
This was a satisfying and filling breakfast!
Of course, that didn’t stop me from eating again a few hours later. My mom, sister and I were power shopping, and lunch is key in maintaining a happy-after-Christmas-shopper attitude instead of a can-I-figure-out-some-way-to-cut-in-this-truly-ridiculous-line attitude.
So in an effort to order something at least only partially artery-clogging, I got this light and yummy pasta:
I asked for whole wheat pasta, but they didn’t have it. But it was topped with steamed broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, pine nuts, and a healthy dusting of paresan cheese. It was a lunch portion, but I couldn’t finish it all and brought the rest home for dinner.
Now I”m hanging out with my dog and trying to get out of throwing his new toy. It’s new, so I should play with him, but I just don’t feel like it. Does anyone else have that problem?
As soon I as I throw the toy exactly three times to appease my guilt, I’m going to do some strength training stuff (push-ups, crunches, etc) and finish this lovely project:
Yup…more packing! I’m headed to the insanely cold but super fun city of Chicago tomorrow for some New Year’s Eve shenanigans. I have no idea what I’m wearing, so I should probably tackle that age-old dilemma of looking cute vs being warm. It’s pretty much impossible to do both ;).
See you tomorrow!
