Good morning! So, can I just tell you that my new automatic car starter is the best.thing.ever? My dad got it for me for Christmas, and it’s AWESOME! I don’t have a garage, and scraping ice off my windshield before work in subzero temperatures, wearing heels and a skirt, does not a pleasant morning make. But a car starter makes it all better. 🙂
A good part of my evening last night after self-inflicted torture at the mall was consumed by this:
Has anyone read this book? I realize I’m a little late to the party, but it’s SO good! I can’t put it down. I think I just find myself relating really well to the author.
My breakfast this morning was all business:
I didn’t mean to make my breakfast look like a bad-a** FBI agent, but it kind of does, doesn’t it? Maybe I watch too much Dexter. But this combination of almond butter and strawberry jam on an Arnolds Thin, plus–you guessed it–a clementine–was really good! It wasn’t quite as filling as most of my morning meals, though, so I’ll probably wind up eating half of my PURE bar this morning and the other half around 2:30:
PURE bars are awesome. It’s a great way to sneak some extra fruit into your day, plus, they really are delicious! I eat a ton of these things. And, the website makes me think of California and sun and beaches, so I buy them. True story. Check it out for nutrition info…they are completely raw and vegan. And PURE :).
Lunch:
Another Trader Joe’sIndian-spice Masala veggie patty over spinach, grape tomatoes (pictured!) and a big blob of hummus….the best part.
So every day at lunch, I take a multivitamin, even though I’m a little skeptical of their nutrient powers. Here’s the kind I take:
Does anyone have any better suggestions for a vitamin? I know I can get more expensive brands at Whole Foods, but I’m not sure that makes them better. Thoughts?
There’s a mini-blizzard outside with more to come…cross your fingers that I get sent home from school…I mean work. Hehe. I’m headed to the gym regardless though…wish me luck!
Happy almost TGIF!
I LOVE that series!! Wait til you read Something Blue and Baby Proof – then Love The One You’re With – they are sooo good!!
I was just thinking yesterday that I needed an automatic car starter. I hate getting into a freezing car brrrr!
Oh I would sooooo go for an automatic car starter right about now too. No garage either. My car is a standard though so it wouldn’t work. I had to pour hot water over my windshield this morning. sigh. The veggie burger flavor sounds so good. We don’t have a Trader Joe’s where I live though. 😦
I also take a multivitamin at lunch with extra B and D. There is so much wishy washy info about vitamins out there it’s so hard to know what to do or what to believe.
I too take a multi vitamin but can’t take the ones you take. I have a real problem digesting them. I have recently found that the gummy vitamins work better for me…plus it lets me feel like a kid 🙂
The vitamins I take are softgels. I’ve heard that sometimes the tablet-form vitamins are so compacted that your body won’t break it down and absorb it. It just passes through your system instead. I’ve also heard this assertion is bologna. So, who knows. 🙂 I’m really no help at all, am I?
Also, can you please tell me more about this almond butter I’ve heard you mention a couple times? It looks and sounds delicious, but I’ve never heard of it.
Haha…that’s how I feel about vitamins too.
Yes! The almond butter is from Trader Joe’s, and it’s just got crushed almonds and sea salt and I think a little bit of olive oil? So it’s good for your heart, good for a flat tummy and more yummy than peanut butter, with none of the preservatives and added fats! I’m obsessed with it :).
mmm hummus in salad= the best thing ever. I like adding cottage cheese too (not at the same time of course).
I need to read that book! I always pick it up, but never end up getting it.
Have a wonderful Thursday (its almost the weekend!)
I read that book awhile back, I loved it!! I take the chewable gummy vitamins (I know, I’m like a 5 yr old), only because they don’t upset my stomach like other ones.
That whole series is great!!! A glass of wine and a comfy couch, and I’d finish a book in one sitting.
man, it really seems like it is snowing everywhere! that veggie burger sounds really good too, love it 🙂 i need a good multivitamin too

Once you read on book by Emily Giffen you will want to read them all. So good a the beach!
I love that flavor of Pure Bar. Probably my favorite of all the Pure bars.
We are supposed to get snow tonight. Not that much but enough to make it annoying.
Ok lets see if I can post…Im a newbie to all this, but I absolutely love your blog posts!! I have stolen all of your meal ideas because I really need to eat better. So thanks so much for posting!! Now I just need to find a Trader Joes…hnmm….I have been thinking of trying the Alli diet pills, but Im scared…haha! Anywho, vitamins!! Im a vitamin junkie…I take the one source “extra boost” vitamins, they have extra vitamin B & D in them. HOWEVER, at the Vitamin Shop (spelled that wrong) they have a red liquid vitamin drink that I will SWEAR by. They say that a liquid vitamin is able to absorb better into the body. I had a lot more energy and felt wonderful (maybe it was just my mind frame thinking liquid was better) but its $35 a bottle, and a bottle only last Bree and I 15 days, so the thought of spending $70 a month on vitamins just didnt sound too appealing!! I like to shop way to much to spend so much on vitamins…..so I’ll just stick to my one source and I like to mix it up with the One A Day or the One A Day Energy because I believe that if you take the same thing over and over your body becomes immune to it…..so I like to mix it up and “shock” my system!!
OMG!!! I just left a comment…Haha, im so excited now 🙂
I love Emily Giffin… I have read all of her books (4 total) and am always checking to see if she has anything new. Have fun with it.
I LOVED Something Borrowed and Something Blue! I’m a sucker for cheesy/girly books! I hope you’re enjoying it 🙂
I think I have read that book- but it’s been a while- I’m terrible about reading a book then forgetting what it was about hehe
I love pure bars- yum! 😀 So happy that I found your blog- love it!
These vitamins should be just fine, ESPECIALLY if you’re already eating a balanced diet. The only thing I’ve heard is that gel vitamins are absorbed more thoroughly into your system than the hard ones that require a binding agent to hold it all together.
hope you’re having a good one 🙂
I LOVE that book. Actually the whole series. I was sad when I read them all. Love The One Youre With is amazing too!
Now I want to read them again. lol
OH – and about your comment on my blog, Im the same way. When I watched My Dog Skip I sobbed. But My Sisters Keeper, not a single tear. Or Homeward Bound, I know how it ends, but I still cry every time that dog doesnt come back.
ME TOO!
I hope you get off early!! 🙂 It’s supposed to snow here tonight. I really hope it does!
I love purebars!
Thanks so much for the comment!

Make sure to read all her books! They’re great!
so many things i love about this post: your heart plate, TJs masala veggie burgers, Pure bars, etc! hope you have a great day 🙂
I keep meaning to read that series sometime…..
Lucky you with the automatic car starter! I should put that on my wish list. Although I have to walk the dog anyways before work, so that’s when I start it….. maybe an automatic car starter that can also walk my dog! 😉
That is a GREAT series…you will like!
The vitamin from a company called Rainbow Light. (http://www.rainbowlight.com) I take the all natural women’s vitamin with probiotics and is supposed to be gentle on the stomach. It isn’t terrible expensive. For a bottle of 30 tablets (you take 1 a day) it is $12.99. I get it at Whole Foods. Hope this helps….
My multi? Source Naturals Life Force Multiple. They do sell it at Whole Foods but I usually buy mine at bestpricenutrition.com.
One of my personal trainers recommended this brand and formula to me and I’ve been taking it ever since.
i want to read that book so bad! isnt it a series? I love chick flick books like that! Jane green is an awesome author!!! I love the pure bars, the chocolate tastes like a BROWNIE!
I love the Bring it On shout out. I’ve seen that movie too many times to count. Definitely one of my faves!
Yes, I read this book a couple of years ago! Love this author, she has such fun reads. And I just ordered “Love the one your with” from her yesterday! Can’t wait to read that one as well. I’ve got to get my hands on som TJ’s almond butter…but we don’t have TJ’s in Iowa….I wonder if you can order online?
Thank you for visiting and for your comment!
That is a great book. I love the entire series. I also love the TJ’s veggie burgers but I wish they could do something about the bread crumbs so I could eat them again (can’t eat gluten).
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. As soon as I ran into yours and saw your picture, I realize that you look incredibly familiar to me. Hmmmm, do don’t or didn’t once live in PA did you?
Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks and its so nice to meet you. Hope to keep in touch! 🙂
i’ve been looking for a new book to read…totally gonna get that one now! and your healthy eating is really inspiring, case…although i would rather go to red lobster and fill up on cheddar bay biscuits and margaritas with you. heeeee! 🙂
Hey Casey,
I read that book – good for a light airy read – I think you will like it. Have a great night. I enjoy your blog and super appreciate you comments you leave on mine.
A multivitamin’s absorption depends on what you’re eating with it. For example, calcium might not be as absorbed if you’re eating breads, teas, citrus, etc. On the other hand, iron may not be absorbed as well if you *don’t* drink citrus.
The bottom line is that a multivitamin acts as an insurance policy for your diet, filling in the gaps that you may be missing out on. Don’t worry too much about the fact you aren’t absorbing as much as the vitamin claims you are unless you end up needing more iron & calcium (and many people are really short on vitamin D…just as an aside 😉 .)
Thanks for a book suggestion!! I’ve been in a rut lately and needing to find some new reads. I’ll be looking this one up at the bookstore! 😀
[…] by Casey Oooh…happy Friday!! Thank you so much for all of your vitamin suggestions! Per your recommendations, I think I’m going to embrace my inner 5-year-old and […]
You must read Emily Gifflins other books! Something Blue, Baby Proof and Love the One Youre With!!!!! so good!
Love pure bars! I also take a multi vitamin called ALIVE whole food energizer. Very reasonable priced and has everything. Oh I must try the mushroom oats. Maybe add a little sauteed green onion and chicken, yum!
