Oooh…happy Friday!! Thank you so much for all of your vitamin suggestions! Per your recommendations, I think I’m going to embrace my inner 5-year-old and try out the gummy ones. 🙂
I feel like the first week back after vacation can be brutal, you know what I mean? Although, to be perfectly honest, I did get sent home Monday due to no power and left yesterday because Indiana decided to become the North Pole for a day. Details. 🙂
For breakfast today, I took a cue from Kristin and had a bowl of good old-fashioned cereal! Behold the magic puffins:
Have you tried these? I think I got them at Meijer. They’re resminiscent of Capn Crunch (my absolute fave), but without all the sugar! They taste perfectly sweet, and the box says they’re good for you, and boxes don’t lie:
Great taste without compromise. Catchy, no? Plus they only have 5 grams of sugar per 3/4 cup serving! And the best part…you can get them in peanut butter flavor, too! Puffins, you have officially won my heart. Congrats!
Fun fact about me: I used to eat an absolutely unnatural amount of cereal in college. I would eat it for breakfast, sometimes lunch, and sometimes dinner…and sometimes stand around in the kitchen at night in my sorority and just…eat cereal.
Before you judge me, have YOU tried sorority food? I got SO addicted to afore mentioned Capn Crunch AND SmartStart (don’t let the title fool you! It’s not a smart start to your day at all, unless you want to sugar crash at 10:30am).
Mmmm….crunchy cereal goodness.
Anyway, my days of the cereal obsession have passed, and now I can enjoy it in normal intervals like a normal person. And along with my puffins, I had a piece of toasted sprouted rye toast with almond butter and a clementine:
I freak out a little bit if my breakfast doesn’t contain any fruit.
Moving on to lunch: I packed my yummy turkey/swiss/hummus/spinach arnold thins combo again:
I toasted the bun, spread hummus on one side and laughing cow on the other, and assembled! I’ll pop it in my friend the microwave before eating. I also brought some yogurt:
Side note: in the food blogging world, Greek yogurt is like the demigoddesss of all foods, and she reigns supreme over all lowly non-Greek yogurts. However, I tried somewhat desperately to make myself like it, and realized that I actually CANNOT STAND it. So I quit buying it. I know it’s good for you, but to me if just tasted like eating a big tub of fat-free sour cream.
Sooo…are you ready for a new category of the blog? Sure you are! So I introduce to you…Fun Fashion Friday! If you know me, you know I really like clothes and trying on clothes and buying clothes. And shoes, and accessories…
And what better day to think about shopping than Friday? This isn’t my payday, sad face, but Friday still leads into Saturday, which oftentimes, I spend shopping (or at least window shopping.) SO for now I’ll just give you a quick list of my favorite Web sites for great deals:
1. Delias.com—I know you got these catalogues in, ahem, high school like I did, but I actually love this store for end-of-season clearances. And their jeans are the best; they feel like designer denim, but they’re around $40! They’re actually my favorite pair I own.
2. Zappos.com—a few of you mentioned this when I was talking about shoes the other day…they have about 47 billion pairs of shoes, and free shipping! You can find some great prices too.
3. Nordstrom.com—I know this store can be pricey, but it’s my hands-down favorite place to buy purses. Check out the B.P. section and they’re a lot cheaper…they’re just very unique and fun!
I’m off to work….and then, darn it, I might have to go shopping. Hmmm. Have a great Friday!!
What’s your favorite thing to do on a Friday night?
I LOVE Puffins!! I love the peanut butter ones..so addicting. Friday nights I usually just like to lay around. Im boring. 🙂
I love Nordstroms! We don’t have one here and I have been in withdrawal. I really like the Loft and Limited for fun work attire.
oh man, I used to love getting my Delia’s in the mail! And Alloy.
I do remember that Delias catalog! Friday nights now (with a 4 mo. old) are pretty boring at our house…but I wouldn’t take it any other way! If I do get the chance to get out, I love a night with the girls, usually eating at a good restaurant!
I love Nordstroms and Puffins. I really need to stay away from both though because they are dangerous. In different ways!!
haha i used to be like that with greek yogurt! i LOVE the dannon light and fit vanilla..i still eat it! muahaha. mushrooms..in oatmeal?!?!
Mushrooms in oatmeal. It’s good!! I promise!! Just don’t mix with banana or anything crazy like that. 🙂
Thanks for the comment! Back when I wasn’t vegan I kept trying to make myself like greek yogurt too – but it just wasn’t happening. By the time I was done sweetening it to my liking it was probably not any better than any other flavored yogurt 😛
I love Puffins! I have tried all the flavors and my favorite is the multigrain ones! They definitely rock! My husband loves the peanut butter ones best!
i was in denial of greek ogurt too for the longest time!! i thought it was sick. but i think i just fuond that when i would combine it with cereal & pb, the thickness was sooo satisfying- of course i have to really cover up the flavor though. the sour cream thing really freaks me out haha!!
& omg sO TRUE about the sorority cereal!! my sororitiy house has smart start & cap’n crunch! i dont live in the house eyt but i hear girls tlak about their ‘healthy’ breakfast of smart start and ijust laugh bc i know that it isn’t actually healthy at all!!!
what sorority were you in?! i’m in alpha chi omega at university of wisconsin.
have a great friday!!

My twin sister was an Alphi Chi, Shelley! 🙂 I was in Delta Gamma at DePauw University.
Happy Friday to you too!!!
Hi Casey! Thank you for your sweet comment! I had to ease myself into greek yogurt- it’s a “culture” shock at first, haha. My sorority food train involved lots of Wendy’s. Not so healthy.
My fave thing to do on a Friday night (hell, any night) is to relax with a glass of wine. I’m pretty wild and crazy. Have a great weekend!
Oh I am a shopaholic too. My favorite 3 things on a Friday are to go to the mall after work, then meet hubby at home and make homemade pizza, then play pool together.
I absolutely LOVE Greek yogurt. I hate how much more it cost. But I am also a fan of plain yogurt so that may be why I like it. I don’t like the sweetness of the flavored yogurts.
I LOOOOOOOOOOVE puffins! Have you tried the peanut butter? Best. Cereal. EVER!!
And I hear ya on the greek yogurt thing – SOOOOO good!
The greek yogurt thing makes sense, I love coming in contact with new foods through the blog world, and a lot of things about my diet has changed because of the things I’ve been exposed to. But some things other people eat just look/taste/make me feel like crap! To each their own! 🙂
You crack me up! 🙂 Out with Greek yogurt and in with the cereal – you go girl! 🙂
you’re so cute 🙂 that’s a great idea for a sandwich that i WILL be making next week!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. So glad you did — I love yours! : ) It’s beautiful! I love Puffins cereal! As much as I love fancy, big breakfasts, I’m a sucker for cold cereal any time. That was my lunch today, actually! Looking forward to reading more — added you to my blog roll!
Thank you!!! Look forward to reading more of yours too! 🙂
Im OBSESSED with Zappos. I got the cutest boots ever on there and since then Ive been addicted.
On Friday nights Im a big fan of doing nothing. Maybe the boyfriend and I will go to a movie, but more often we just rent one at my house. After a LONG week, I want to just relax. Im just THAT cool.
Thanks for checking out my blog! And you know what? KUDOS on just laying the greek yogurt dislike out there. Just because everyone else claims to love it so much definitely doesn’t mean you have to. And pssst…I don’t think it’s so hot, either 😉 I’m more likely to make tzatziki with it or use it as a substitute for sour cream, so you’re not alone!
I love the gummy vitamins!

OMG I loooove me some Puffins! I know lots of people are fans of the PB flavor (which I haven’t tried), but right now I’m loving the Original flava.
About the greek yogurt – I absolutely, positively hated it at first, too! I actually still can’t eat the straight up plain flavor without adding some agave or honey to it. Have you tried buying the flavored kinds? My grocery store sells Honey, Vanilla, and Blueberry Oikos and Vanilla and Strawberry Brown Cow varieties. I seriously never thought I would like it, and now I love it!
Thanks soo much for the sweet comment on my blog.. I love yours and cant wait to read more!!
Im totally addicted to Puffins… I like the original.. no PB or cinnamon or whatever.. just plain ol Puffins. I end up eating a bowl for breakfast then handfuls for “snacks” lol.
Happy Friday 🙂
I love puffins! I like how it doesn’t have a ton of sugar (and that there’s a penguin on the box…)
Thanks for the fashion links! I def. need some help in that department
I still need to try Greek yogurt. Except i can never find it at my grocery store. I always just end up getting 2%. But the way everyone always talks about Greek yogurt makes me want to try it even more. Must keep searching!
I LOVE your blog, lots of fun things to read about and I also ENJOYED your fashion fun Fridays. I tend to get shallow and get really happy about fashion when I’m tired and today hit the spot. Keep it coming and thanks for visiting my blog!! Also, I used to buy Puffins for my kids and they made up all kinds of stories about the puffin on the box. I guess I have a soft-spot for that cereal. Happy Weekend,
meg
Stephen and I might go to dinner, but other than that, usually we stay in and watch movies. I’m just glad that I can stay up a bit later and not feel guilty!
Hey there thanks so much for dropping by my blog! I’ve tried the PB Puffins before and the PB flavor was so intense. Yumyumyum!! I like their “Project Puffin” cause, imagine adopting your own puffin!
While I’m OK with greek yog, I absolutely cannot bring myself to like cottage cheese…uh, it reminds me of puke; even the lumpiness of it looks like puke.
Great blog and have a blasting weekend!
Girl, if you don’t like Greek yogurt, DON’T BUY IT! Bloggers have different tastes! And I like normal yogurt a lot too! Stonyfield has great flavors!
I love puffins, they’re so expensive though!
❤ jess

Yum! I must buy these for as a snack to keep at work.
I’ve only had Greek yogurt once and I don’t love it either! Your cereal looks great!
Hey there 🙂 ! Thanks for the coment, I’ve failed with eggplant, so I never ate them since, but now I’m curious to re-try them again.
And I love Puffins, especially the peanut butter one! but I try to not buy those too much because I can eat the entire box in one car ride (from the grocery store to home). um, yikes!
Looking forward to your posts!
Can you believe I have yet to try Puffins!? I really need to but I know it’ll be gone within a couple hours 🙂
The gals I worked with this summer HATED Greek yogurt and I almost fainted when they told me so. I couldn’t believe anyone could dislike it. Is it the texture?! I guess I’ve always liked thick dairy.
Casey, how could you not like DG food?!?!
I love puffins! The PB ones are the best! I don’t allow myself to buy them because I ate soooo many when I do!
Yummy, I love Puffins! The only kind I haven’t tried is multigrain, but I bet it’s just as tasty as the others. 🙂 I can’t stand eating plain Greek yogurt—I need me some sweetness, though maybe not as much as Yoplait. 😉 I add honey/maple syrup/jams/fruit butters to it and lots of other mix-ins to make it taste amazing. I love it most for its creaminess, not necessarily the sourness. lol. My favorite activity on a Friday night is to just chill and do nothing, except maybe eat out and shop a little. No homework allowed though! 🙂
I love, love, love Puffins! Especially the peanut butter ones! YUM
i’ve never had just original puffins before because PB always wins out but I’ll have to try them asap!
great blog!
Online shopping??? love it! Im addicted to ruelala.com. I’ll send you an invite to try it.
I totally forgot about puffins! We only eat mutli grain cheerios in this apt…but ill have to try to sneak some puffins in!
We love Barbara’s! I eat her cereals as snacks throughout the day!
oh my gosh. Must go to Old Navy! 🙂
[…] column that made its my way to my blog last week. Since shopping occupies an embarrassing chunk of my weekend hours, I figured some of you would […]
Confession. I just went to Delia*s and bought 2 pairs of jeans. They really ARE great jeans! Thanks for the suggestion.
Haha yay! I LOVE mine!
